46/52 - Night Bike

We went over to a friends house this evening to hang out for a little while.  I have been wanting to get a picture of him with his bike for a while now, but hadn't ever been able to pull it off.  I didn't think it would happen tonight either since it had been raining all day and was only about 50 degrees out.
About an hour after we got there it finally stopped raining and really warmed up.  My buddy's wife is into photography as well and we typically talk shop when we come over.  Since it was nice out now, I asked her if they wanted to go out and try a multi-light night photo.
They live on a brick street, which I really wanted to incorporate in the photo.  So, since it was night time, I had them pull the bike out into the middle of the street so I could use the bricks and run a long shutter to bring in the street lights and whatever ambient was still left.
So, he moved it the bike out to the street, I got all the lights set up and we tried several different poses with each of them individually on the bike then both together.
It was a lot of fun trying to get this photo and I really liked the way that it turned out.

Update:
I fixed some of the purple color shift that you can see in the reflection of the flash.  I think that it looks better.

45/52 - Hanging on mommy

A picture my wife wanted to get with the baby.  She saw this photo on Pinterest and really liked it, so we tried to do our own recreation at home.
I think that it's just a sweet picture of she and the baby hanging out together.

Let me know what you think.

44/52 - Flying!

I've wanted to take this picture of my son for a long time now.  Ever since I started barely bouncing him above my head, he would always laugh really hard and smile the entire time.  So, I've been waiting for him to get strong enough that I could really throw him above my head without him hurting himself.  He really loves doing this and just belly laughs the entire time.  It is such a fun sound and really fun for me to see him laugh and smile so much.
So, we set up a light, so that we could really freeze the motion, set the focus so that my wife could snap the picture with me tossing him.
I really like the way this one came out!

let me know what you think.

Here's a second one that I got during this same shoot!

43-52 - Beach White Out

We were in Florida visiting my brother and his wife.  We wanted to get our son out to the beach for the first time, so we all went down there.  My brother and his wife were walking down towards the water together, holding hands and I wanted to get a quick picture of it for them.
I tried to over expose the picture some, to blow out the highlights with the intention of making it a black and white picture.
I like the way it turned out!

Let me know what you think.

42-52 - White Brick Wall

I've got a new photo of our son from a couple of weeks ago.  We've got a great brick wall in our house and I've wanted to get a shot of him in front of it for a long time.  He was getting close to bed time and I really wanted to get a picture of him, so we set up really quick and got this one.  He looks a little sleepy, but we got the picture done.

Let me know what you think.
